What Material Is Baby Wipes Made Of ?

The quality of baby wipes is mainly judged in three aspects:

Firstly,Hygiene. Most of the basic hygienic conditions produced by regular manufacturers and with ISO certification are qualified. You can rest assured that wet wipes from small workshops without ISO certification should be used with caution.

Second, the composition of the composition:

1. Baby wipes generally do not contain alcohol, fragrance and other ingredients that are irritating to the baby’s skin. Everyone knows this.

2. The water used for wet wipes should be treated pure water.

3. Add some ingredients such as aloe vera and VE to the liquid. This is for skin care and nutrition. In fact, these are just to make you feel more comfortable. If not, it is not a big problem.

4. The most important thing in the liquid should be the antibacterial ingredient, and baby wipes must have this.

5. Some wipes are added with chamomile extract, which is a plant native to the United Kingdom and is currently mainly distributed in some parts of Europe. The main function of chamomile is anti-allergic and has skin care effects, but it is not antibacterial.

Thirdly,Non-woven materials of wet wipes:This is the most important. The cost and price of wet wipes mainly depend on this.

1. The raw material of baby wipes should be spunlace non-woven fabric (also called non-woven fabric). Spunlace refers to a kind of non-woven fabric forming process, as well as other processes such as hot air and hot rolling, but baby wipes generally use water. Thorn cloth is better.

2. The spunlace non-woven fabric used for baby wipes is mainly composed of viscose (natural fiber mainly cotton) and polyester (chemical fiber), usually 3:7 ratio, 5:5 ratio, 7:3 ratio The ratio of the statement refers to the content ratio of viscose and polyester, and the 3:7 ratio means that the viscose accounts for 30% and polyester accounts for 70%. The 7:3 ratio means that viscose accounts for 70% and polyester accounts for 30%. The higher the viscose content, the better the quality, and the higher the cost and price.

3. The higher the viscose content, the softer and the better the water absorption.

4. Baby wipes with a ratio of 5:5 are basically usable, and the feel and water absorption are also good. Some high-end products will use a ratio of 7:3, but most mothers can’t feel it. If you want to distinguish, put the wipes After it is completely dried, touch it by hand, there is still a difference in the hand feel, or if it is burned with fire, the taste of different viscose content is also different (you must know that the taste of cotton fiber and chemical fiber is different after burning), and the polyester content is high. After burning, the melting balls are also large, and those with high viscose content basically do not melt balls after burning.

5. There are basically no manufacturers who are completely 100% viscose, and the cost is too high. There is no need for mothers to pursue this.

6. The forming process of spunlace non-woven fabrics has the difference between straight laying and cross laying. The tensile resistance of straight laying is poor. It can be stretched for a long time with a gentle pull. It feels very leaky when used. The pullability is much better, the deformation is basically not large, and the cost price is slightly higher than that of straight laying.

7. Thickness: The thickness of the non-woven fabric is expressed in gm2, which refers to the weight per square meter. Generally speaking, 50g of non-woven fabric means that the weight per square meter is 50g. Wet wipes are of course thicker, but most of the non-woven fabrics used for baby wipes are between 40g and 60g, and there is no need for thicker ones. Generally, the thickening refers to 55g or 60g. I have seen the so-called thickening of 65g. I measured it with an electronic scale and did not find it. It is only slightly thicker than 60g, and there is no difference in use.

8. Baby wipes using non-woven fabrics of 40g or less are not recommended for mothers to use. Most of them are produced by some small workshops. They will definitely not use high viscose ratio. Worry; 45g or 50g non-woven fabric is the choice of most mothers, and the cost performance is usually good, but pay attention to whether it is cross-laid, and you can tell it by pulling it; thicker types above 55g are generally high-end products. The quality is good, but usually the price is also high, and mothers who are looking for high-end products can choose.

9. About the pattern: Generally, the wet wipes are plain weave, and some big brands will use the wet wipes with special patterns, which also shows the strength of the manufacturer. Wet wipes with patterns are good in vision and feel, but the overall quality of the wipes should be judged according to some of the factors mentioned above. Products with patterns are not necessarily good quality.

10. Patterns usually have the difference between embossing and jacquard. Embossing is relatively simple. It is rolled out with patterned steel after the non-woven fabric is formed, and it is just one more process. The jacquard process is formed in the process of forming the non-woven fabric, and the pattern formed is prominent on the surface of the cloth (such as pearl pattern), which makes the hand feel very good and will not slip, and usually the jacquard non-woven fabric is generally thicker ( If the cloth is thin, there will be leaks), which is basically used in high-end products above 55g, and the cost price is relatively high.

11. Even spunlace non-woven fabrics with the same viscose ratio, same thickness, and the same netting may have differences due to different manufacturers’ equipment, different raw material quality, and different production control. For example, some are dense and some are loose.
